Should Teachers Grade Parents?

What are your thoughts and reactions to the proposed Florida bill, HB255,

filed recently by Rep. Kelli Stargel, R-Lakeland, Florida?

According to this proposed bill, elementary school teachers would be required to evaluate parents based on their involvement in their children’s schools. Parents with children in pre-K to third grade would receive ratings such as, satisfactory, needs improvement, or unsatisfactory ratings in the following categories:

Response to requests for meetings or communication

Completion of homework & preparation for tests

      Children’s absentee and tardy rates

Physical preparation for school, including a good night’s sleep

      & appropriate meals

Parents’ grades would then appear on their kids’ report cards.
