Who are they? “Mothers” of course!
Mother’s Day will be celebrated the second Sunday of May to honor our mothers and express our gratitude. Today this festival is celebrated across 46 countries including Australia,Canada, and India, though many celebrate on different dates.
The Origins of Mother’s Day goes back to the era of ancient Greek and Romans. But the roots of Mother’s Day history can also be traced in UK, where a Mothering Sunday was celebrated much before the holiday as we now know it.
Today, Mother’s Day came into being due to the hard work and efforts of these two pioneering women, Julia Ward Howe and Anna Jarvis. The Resolution for having a dedicated Mother’s Day was signed by US President Woodrow Wilson on May 8, 1914. Millions of people across the globe will use this day to celebrate and honor their mothers; thanking them for their efforts in giving them life, raising them and being their constant support and well-wisher.
For some of us, our mothers have passed away, but their advice and wisdom still lives on in our hearts, our work, and in our lives. For good mothers not only tell us how to live-they show us. And these lessons will forever influence us, keep us, and guide us.
