This is a great idea for all ages and family members. Why is it important? Because our mind and our heart are connected. It forces us to become more observant and aware of the small ways God expresses his love towards us every day. As we begin to focus our attention on simple things, such as a compliment from a complete stranger, it increases our awareness as we begin to discover the many things to be thankful for.
So how do I start? Keep a notebook by your bed and record 3 things for which you are thankful before turning out the lights.
Start small with obvious or generic things as being thankful for friends and families, but as you continue this exercise, you will begin to pay closer attention to things throughout your day. By dwelling on positive things before bedtime, you will sleep better.
Do it for 90 days and it will give you a more positive outlook on life. It seems like a mental activity but it will change your heart.
Yesterday is gone,
Today can always get better,
Tomorrow is filled with promise,
The best is yet to come!
